(May be reproduced without permission)
"Hi God - I'm here and want to talk to you."
(Teaches children that they can just "talk" to God.)
o
The Lord's Prayer

"Thank you for everything"
o
Specific things you are thanking God for (examples: Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Best friend, Pet, Snow, Flowers, Toys, Answered prayers)
o
"Please help my family and friends"
o
Specific petitions for family and friends
o
"Please help me"
o
Specific personal petitions
o
"I love you, God"
o
Specific things you praise God for
If the children are too small to think of specific things for the weeks, they can just say the phrase for the Cruciform bead 7 more times. As they get used to doing that, they will start to think of specifics as time goes by.

The Lords Prayer
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. (BCP page 833)
Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. (Ps. 146:7)
Dear Savior, Jesus Christ, you know the temptations of this world. Be with me and teach me how to overcome my addiction(s).
Lead me Oh God, out of my darkness
I commit myself to this journey, Oh God; I will not go back.
Oh Holy Spirit, fill me with your presence that I may know that I am not alone.
Most Merciful God, protect my loved ones that my actions will not cause them harm.
Lord Jesus, this journey is difficult and I am weak; let me lean on you.
When I stumble, Oh Lord, pick me up and dust me off.
When I am tempted to turn away, Dear Jesus, remind me of those who love me.
This journey is for life, Oh Lord, my life is in your hands.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
--Amen.

NOTE: The prayer for each of the cruciform beads is different.
I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord." Ps. 122:1
May your Holy Spirit guide me and remain with me on this journey every day and always.
(1) I love you.
(2) I trust you.
(3) You will lead me.
(4) I will follow you.
(5) I submit my soul to you.
(6) I commit my life to you.
(7) I will not go back.
(8) Thy will be done.
Remind me that this journey begins and ends in your time, not mine.
Give to me a true heart and a clear path.
Grant me the wisdom to discern your will from my own.
Let the power of your love take hold of my soul.
Take my doubts and fears away and turn them into blessings of hope.
Pick me up when I fall; let me lean on you when I am weak.
May the lessons I learn on this journey become the rules I'll live by daily.
O God, remember that I am only human and will stumble again and again. I will become impatient from waiting and wanting this journey to move forward. I will become angry when my feet seem stuck in this world, and I will become weak and close to giving up. But know this, O God, I will not give up because I know your name. Amen.

May my hands be steady and my prayer sure.

May my gifts be used that our prayers be heard.

In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Most Holy One, you know my heart. Fill me with your life-giving spirit that I may be a faithful servant to all people.
Come Holy Spirit, be my guide.
There are those who are learned in spiritual matters, they know the words; But I know the heart--I know the spirit.
My words are simple and my skills are few; But I know the heart--I know the spirit.
Temptations distract me no matter what I do; But I know the heart--I know the spirit.
I am human and cannot control the distractions of this world; But I know the heart--I know the spirit.
Kings and rulers, scholars and holy men--they know the law; But I know the heart--I know the spirit.
Death will come and take away my body; But I know the heart--I know the spirit.
It is because you love me--before, now and for eternity; That I know your heart--I know your spirit.
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. -

based on prayers in "My Prayer Book for Men and Boys", Longmans, Green & Co., 1933
In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; The holy Catholic Church; The Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.
Prepare me to receive Thee in this Holy Sacrament.
Then come in all Thy might;
Let Thy strength make me strong,
Let Thy purity make me pure,
Let Thy gentleness make me kind.
Let Thy faithfulness make me faithful, even unto death.
That as Thy fellow-worker I may help to make this world a better place, according to Thy will.

Grant me the strength to allow my child(ren)'s to make his/her/their own choices.
Grant me a lion's heart to protect my child(ren) from the evils of this world.

I love you because you first loved me.
Your voice pierces my soul and I leap at the sound in gladness.

I treasure your love in my heart.
My soul bursts to overflowing in the glory of your name.
Your spirit is alive in me.
I am consumed with yearning to serve you.
You are my deepest desire.
O Lord, my God, how can I put into words what you have given to my heart. You cover me in the blanket of your love. When I turn away, you love me back to you. I pray that your light of love will burn bright in me for the world to see and know your name.

"Hearken to my voice, O Lord, when I call; have mercy on me and answer me."
-- Ps. 27:10
Come to me, Lord and save me.
Dark angels surround me all the day long.
The deceiver pricks at my soul and mocks me.
I am tormented continually by the ambassadors of evil.
My spirit is bruised from a constant beating.
I am falling from the cliff of despair; my heart lies on the altar of death.
The blasphemer pushes me towards the pit of destruction.
The murderer of my soul steals my focus from you.
It is of the Lord's mercy I shall sing praises of glory.
It is of the Lord's mercy I shall be saved.
It is of the Lord's mercy my soul is replenished.
It is of the Lord's mercy I shall live!
